COPPERHEAD -
The idea of project Copperhead was conceived for the guy that had an old pickup and wanted to restore it but didn’t want to have to build and fabricate stuff for it. The ’67 – ’72 GM trucks are without a doubt one of the most popular body styles of truck, and since there are still a ton of them around, you can literally buy everything for them now except the cab. Copperhead proves that with just a cab and frame and title, you can put one of these together just the way you want it.
Since the body of the ’67 is so clean, I will keep the body modifications to a minimum. I’ll probably shave the dip rails, fill some holes and seams, and that will be it. Copperhead should be finished in the summer; complete with the huge 571ci, 620hp big block engine. It will definitely be a sleeper! One thing I would like to do with it when it is done is run the Silver State Classic Road Race in Nevada. With that kind of power and the overdrive, Copperhead would definitely surprise a few Corvettes and Vipers!
